Behind the Pen: About The Scribe
I have always been fascinated by Baptist history and the early writers who shaped the tradition.
One thing I’ve noticed is that these figures often don’t receive nearly the attention their paedobaptist counterparts do. Beyond that, many today are hesitant to put in the effort required to read these authors in their original tongue. This has left an abundance of wonderful, foundational material from the past collecting dust. Codex Reformatus is my attempt to change that—a space dedicated to reclaiming those voices and making their insights accessible for a new generation.

Who Am I?
My name is Corey Ramsey. For years, I wondered how to use the unique skillset God gave me—spanning web design, business strategy, and theology—to contribute to the Kingdom. I tried various outlets like YouTube and podcasts, but nothing truly resonated.
The “click” happened in a men’s group I was leading.
We were working through the works of John Owen, and while his content is peerless, half the group was burnt out because he is so difficult to read in his original tongue. I realized that we don’t find content like this today, yet the barrier to entry is keeping it locked away.
Reclaiming the Baptist Voice
While many have dedicated themselves to editing and promoting the Paedobaptist Puritans, our own Reformed Baptist heroes—outside of John Bunyan—often sit in silence. They weren’t “lesser” writers; they simply haven’t had someone venture to bring their work back into the light for a modern generation.
There are many great works collecting dust in the archives, waiting to be brought back to life!
Codex Reformatus is dedicated to this task: taking the riches of Reformed Baptist history and editing them into an understandable tongue while preserving the absolute fullness of their theology. I am a Reformed Baptist holding to the 1689, and I believe these unheard voices are exactly what a world doused in impurity needs to hear.
Why This Matters Now
- The Problem: Great theological content is often trapped in archaic language that leads to “reader burnout.”
- The Gap: Reformed Baptist history is rich with “heroes” who have been overshadowed by better-promoted traditions.
- The Solution: Using modern tools and clear language to “dust off” these archives for today’s believers.
Don’t let the archives settle. Join me in reclaiming the voices of our Reformed Baptist heroes and bringing their wisdom into the light for a new generation.
